Who We Are

Early on

What started out as two kids growing up down the street from each other in a small community outside Kamloops, British Columbia in the 90’s. To skating our first homemade mini quarter pipe in the early 2000’s on our co-founder, Reilly Henri’s patio. To now, where we are working toward building a place for skaters to come together and thrive together. Some of our most treasured childhood memories take place on four wheels. Spending hours trying to impress one another with differing variations of tricks at the end the street , at the school or in the driveways. The amount of shin bashing, torn shirts and stained everything were badges of honour proudly worn. It’s funny some of the things we take pride in, isn’t it? Each scar and each wound, we were just a step closer to landing that trick. Building more than just skill, but character along the way. Eventually work and life start to get in the way. Thankfully the love for skateboarding, its culture and its community, we found our way back. After a serious car accident, our co-Founder Ryan Emery got back into skateboarding not only to help his recovery physically but mentally. Although not living in the same area, Ryan in Edmonton, Alberta and Reilly in Williams Lake, British Columbia. We began sending skate video’s to each other of our progression. We began discussing how we could become a permanent part of the culture and give back to the community that gave us so much. How could we do more than a simple shop. At the time we began conceiving what eventually became what you see now, there was still snow on the ground. The drive to want to skate, but lack of places to skate and accessibility to what was available solidified where to aim this drive. We began developing and designing full indoor skate parks with unique traits that would grant us an ability to periodically rearrange the park, keeping it long enough for skater to get enough of it, and then change it around so they don’t get bored. Keeping us relevant at all times, and finally giving skaters in Edmonton, and any travelling to Edmonton a place to go when the cold and snow show up. Backed by a brand and logo solely created and designed in house. With an ever evolving element with our logo, we aim to create not just customers, but fans of the brand, the art work and what we all represent together. All this combined and you get Loose Screw Skateboards Ltd. Two people trying to make it all happen from a dream to a reality.

Aspiration

With community at the forefront we plan to source all building materials and supplies from locally owned and operated businesses within the Edmonton area. With a one of a kind facility, we want to hold events to support the community. Local food vendors, live music, and skateboarding, we plan to bring unique events and experiences to skaters who come from all over. With camps, lessons, girls only night, parent/kids classes, and much more we intend to provide an encouraging, inclusive environment that keeps you wanting to come back. To be able to start scholarships for skateboard entrepreneurs and skateboard artists is a dream of ours we fully intend to fulfil. Making sure the money that goes back directly into the community stays and is used in and for the community. To build a loyal and returning fan base for our brand, our logo with ever changing graphics for decks, apparel and prints, and to become a possible training facility for team Canada’s Olympic skateboard team and/or bring Street League Skateboarding to Canada for the first time.
